Black Sheep Art Studio was formed by Carrie Wareham in 2005 as a company to help sell art and design items that she was making herself. In 2006 she was joined by Marian Lishman who was another artist based in Dubai who needed an outlet for her work. The two of them opened a gallery and studio in Al Quoz and held exhibitions for local artists to showcase work of budding UAE artists who struggled to get local recognition.
As well as opening the gallery/studio, the two artists undertook work for interior designers and hotels who were requiring custom artwork for their projects, as well as exhibiting at local art and craft events and selling one-off paintings to individuals.

In 2009 the artists moved more into an art consultancy focus, with a network of artists able to provide artwork of differing styles for commercial projects.
In 2011 Black Sheep Art Studio was joined by Karin Sundström who specialises in creating sound absorbing art in the shape of wall panels. These panels can be custom designed to fit any interior and will absorb sound whilst providing a great addition to the decor.
The focus of Black Sheep Art Studio is now twofold: working as a Dubai art consultancy to provide artwork at competitive prices to businesses requiring paintings for their interiors projects and to provide an outlet and a training resource for local artists who are looking to learn more about painting techniques or sell their artwork locally.
